We are celebrating the release of Beautiful Burn by Author Jamie McGuire!
Fresh out of college, Ellison Edson has fallen through the cracks of rock bottom. While staying in her family’s vacation home in Colorado, her behavior has finally gained the attention of her parents—but not in the way she hoped. Cut off from the millions she’s always taken for granted, and left alone to fend for herself, Ellie spirals further out of control, making a mistake she can’t take back.
Like his twin brother Taylor, Tyler Maddox is a member of the Alpine Hotshots, fighting wildland fires on the frontline. As arrogant as he is charming, Tyler’s nomadic lifestyle makes it easy to contain his relationships to one night. When he meets Ellie at a local party during off-season, her extreme personality and dismissive attitude fascinates him at first, but as his feelings deepen, Tyler realizes that the crippling inner demons of the woman he loves might be the strongest enemy any Maddox has ever faced.
So I've deleted about 17 different starts to this review. I feel like whatever I write, some will think "Oh, it's because she knows the author", others will feel like this review isn't enough, but I hope there will be some that feel the way I do. Reviews are a very personal thing, and really depend on factors that other readers might not experience. Personally, I've invested more than 3 years into reading anything and everything by Jamie McGuire, and I'm sad that this is about the last Maddox brother.
I've been struggling with this review for the last 12 hours. I really just want to list off all the reasons why you should read this book, but I don't think it'll be enough. I wanna tell you all about the hot sexy-times that had me blushing. I wanna tell you how Ellie is not like Cami, Liis, or Abby. I wanna tell you how her flaws absolutely compliment her relationship with not only Tyler, but the gang as a whole. And I really wanna tell you why I was ready to launch weapon of mass destruction at certain characters who shall not be named because it will more than likely give parts of the story away! While a part of me thought back to the classic McGuire banter of Travis and Abby in Beautiful Disaster, it didn't take long for me to remember that Ellie and Tyler have their own voices, and their own story for all of us to experience.
But telling you all this is absolutely no comparison to you actually reading it yourself. You need to go through the whole gamut of emotions just like the rest of us. You need to curse the characters one moment, and be their biggest cheerleader the next. If you're new to Jamie McGuire and are asking yourself what is a Maddox Brother, THIS IS NOT THE BOOK TO START WITH. Please read Beautiful Disaster and follow it from there. But if you've been with the boys since the beginning, I think it's been one hell of a ride.
